
In October 2016, Marcus R. Jackson was elected to the Prattville City Council to represent District 2, the community that nurtured him. His deep connection to this district fuels his unwavering dedication to service, equity, and opportunity for every resident.
A proud graduate of Prattville High School, Marcus began his leadership journey as class president. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Management from Auburn University and embarked on a corporate career in Atlanta, only to return home to pursue his true passion for community and mentorship. For 19 years, he has made a profound impact as an educator and coach in the classrooms and on the football fields at Prattville High and Autaugaville High. As a Behavior Coach with the Autauga County Board of Education and a football coach for the Prattville Junior High School Cats, he empowers the next generation.
For over thirty years, Councilman Jackson has been a beacon of hope for countless young people, mentoring them through programs like Brother2Brother, Sister2Sister, and the Big Brother/Big Sister Mentoring Program. He also contributes his time and expertise as a board member for Alabama E.D.G.E. and the Prime Elite Basketball Program, which promote academic and athletic excellence.

In response to a rising need for youth and community engagement, Jackson co-founded the Marlon & Marcus Foundation in 2020, amplifying his efforts to uplift the community. He received the Rookie Teacher Award from the Autauga County Education Association in 2007 and the Service Organization of Character Award from the Prattville-Autauga Character Coalition in 2012.
Jackson is a proud 2019 Graduate of The Alabama League of Municipalities Certified Municipal Official Program and Leadership Autauga County. He actively participates in The National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials (NBC-LEO), Race, Equity, and Leadership (REAL) Council, and the National League of Cities Community and Economic Development Committee.
His community service continues through membership in the Prattville Lions Club (Lions Club International) and the Prattville YMCA Board of Managers, alongside active involvement with the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce. Marcus has been a steadfast advocate for public education. In 2018, he served on the Prattville–Autauga School Committee, which studied long-term funding strategies for the school system. He proposed using 1-cent sales tax revenue to help build a new Prattville High School at the Central Alabama Community College campus.
Through strategic partnerships, Councilman Jackson helped secure:
• $110,000 with Rep. Kelvin Lawrence for the Prattville Junior High media center
• $5,000 for the library at PJHS
• $5,000 to bring speaker Willie Spears to PJHS
• $4,000 with Rep. Paul Beckman for Chromebooks for the Second Chance Program

He has also donated to the FBLA at Autaugaville School, supported Central Alabama Community College, and partnered with Rep. Lawrence to invest thousands of dollars into Prattville High athletics.

In addition, Councilman Jackson has been actively engaged with residents in the historic College Heights community — a neighborhood deeply rooted in African American history. Streets there honor HBCUs and prominent Black leaders such as Mr. Isom Jones and Ralph Bunche. Jackson is working to address key community concerns, including:
• Completion of a long-awaited drainage project
• Installation of missing street signs (Dillard, Meharry, Tuskegee)
• Widening and upgrading Isom Street with curbing, drainage, and lighting
• Sidewalk and street light additions to Court Street
His advocacy reflects a commitment to preserving cultural heritage and improving the quality of life in this area.
As Chair of the Streets, Drainage & Lights Committee, Jackson works closely with the Engineering and Public Works Departments. He also serves on the Education Committee, Urban Management, Cemetery, Sanitation, and Stormwater/Wastewater Committees.
